Associate Vice President for External Affairs

Julie Clark focuses on the ideas and strategies that make Ohio State experiences great. In her role as Associate Vice President for External Affairs, she leads teams that deliver services and moments that advance Ohio State and its relationships. She works across External Affairs and the university to build a culture where people innovate together, bound by continuous learning and improvement.

Julie is in her element managing several projects at once, and enjoys leading teams with diverse callings, such as talent and culture, donor and constituent services, operations, technology, and Advancement Marketing & Communications. Her teams provide support and services vital to External Affairs staff, donors, alumni, grateful patients, and university partners.

Julie creates settings where people can grow and refine their craft to spark curiosity and novel thinking. This focus on thoughtful, ongoing improvement ensures that External Affairs delivers experiences that deepen connection with Ohio State.

A product of Worthington, Ohio, Julie received her bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University, then returned home to Ohio State for her Masters of Health Administration. While in grad school, she worked at Wexner Medical Center.

Julie joined External Affairs in 2013, after five years working in President Gordon Gee’s administration. She had central roles in two record-breaking campaigns: But for Ohio State, and Time and Change: The Ohio State Campaign.

Julie and her husband Sean live in Powell, where they do their best to keep up with their two sons and two daughters, while cheering on the Buckeyes.
